Some interesting discussion about polyphenols in food on the blogosphere lately arguing that some polyphenols are good because they are mild stressors, while large amounts are bad.  Don't have anything to add, but I thought I would point to the links in case y'all haven't seen them.

Thanks for starting this thread!  Your links to Stephan's posts about polyphenols and hormesis fit perfectly into the theme of my latest post,
The case against antioxidants, which I just posted today.  I think it addresses some of the questions that you, UrsusMinor, aelephant and thomas_seay have raised about polyphenols, spices and other dietary hormetic stimulants of the antioxidant response element (ARE).
