Title: Planning to stop it permanently
Post by: okdonald50 on May 13, 2016, 12:33:22 AM
I started this ( pulling my hair) when I was 40. Actually, this is a kind of disorder which can't stop permanently. I tried to stop it several times but started again after a small interval. I don't know what make me do this, but after pulling my hair, I feel relaxed. It is a stress relief method for me. I know, it's a little weird, especially at this age, but I'm not able to control my urge to pull my hair. Now, I'm getting treatment for this embarrassing disease from a mental health clinic in Toronto (CBT associates). I had already attended 2 sessions of trichotillomania treatment (http://www.cbtassociates.com/about-you/problems-addressed/hair-pulling-trichotillomania/) (ACT) from my doctor in Toronto. I didn't notice any particular change in pulling the hair on my scalp, but there is a considerable decrease in the upper eyelid hair pulling. Is it a sign of recovery? Does anyone here have a similar experience?  I wonder whether I could manage my stress without pulling my hair. Lol :D Hoping for the best. Fingers crossed.
