HansK, and Ortho-K and contact lens.
« on: October 14, 2016, 09:08:16 AM »
I KNOW how hard it is to give up,on a minus lens an a contact lens.
We LOVE 20/15 vision - that a minus lens gives us.
So even when we PASS the 20/40 line - we refuse to quit wearing a contact lens.  That is a tough choice.
I "follow" EndMyopia".  Jake does get some things wrong - but he is correct about the danger of
the contact lens.

I should also add my suggestion for objective success.  It is when YOU objectively read all the letter on the 20/40 line,
even though blurry.  Then YOU GO PASS THE DMV.

But to be SMART, you should pass the 20/30 line - at home - to make certain you pass the DMV in the office.

Ditch that minus contact lens - if you can.

A large part of our problem is, "Cognitive Dissonance".  We can not accept that a medical person is making a terrible mistake, in putting a kid with 20/40 vision), in to a -2 diopter lens.  I will talk about  a lot of things, but I say that if the kid wears that minus lens - at all - is distant vision will become, "permanently lost".  This is a failure of the OD (of course) but it is our failure also.  If you are going to "reduce" a prescription, or "improve", then you need a source of low-cost glasses.  Here is a discussion of how to get them:

That FIRST minus is indeed poison!  But, of  course, it is very difficult for you to "convince yourself", to avoid it - by objectively passing the 20/40 line on your home Snellen.  I gave up on ODs who - will not help me reject wearing a minus lens.

Maybe you have more trust that I do.
