A large part of our problem is, "Cognitive Dissonance". We can not accept that a medical person is making a terrible mistake, in putting a kid with 20/40 vision), in to a -2 diopter lens. I will talk about a lot of things, but I say that if the kid wears that minus lens - at all - is distant vision will become, "permanently lost". This is a failure of the OD (of course) but it is our failure also. If you are going to "reduce" a prescription, or "improve", then you need a source of low-cost glasses. Here is a discussion of how to get them:
http://endmyopia.org/best-place-buy-glasses-online/That FIRST minus is indeed poison! But, of course, it is very difficult for you to "convince yourself", to avoid it - by objectively passing the 20/40 line on your home Snellen. I gave up on ODs who - will not help me reject wearing a minus lens.
Maybe you have more trust that I do.
