Mantra chanting:

I am following Dr.Pillai's (Siva Baba's) posts and blog nowadays and I came across this very interesting video on chanting mantras (phrases) to control appetite and weight loss.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-8ECbjJfXk

Chant "kanta koope kshut bipasha nivrutti"

I tried it out as follows. Day 1, I chanted the mantra for 1-2 hours in the morning, while reading the newspaper and doing some other routine work. After some time, I lost my appetite. I closed day 1 on less than 800 calories, which is a 30-40% decrease from my regular consumption. Day 2, I chanted for around half hour, and my AS continued, and I again ate much less than normal that day.

I look forward to other people's feedback on this. It is pretty effective, try it...its very simple, you just have to chant a phrase for some time daily.

Dr.Pillai is an Indian Mind Control specialist, and he has a very interesting free program on twitter for developing super-normal powers. I have joined the program. I hope more people will benefit from the divine tools he teaches.
The free program is at:

That's interesting, IndianVeganGirl. I watched the video (so I could at least learn how to pronounce the words in the mantra).  I tried it for about 15 minutes, not as long as you did. But it does help. I don't know whether there is something special about the words or sounds, or whether it is just the distraction and focusing on the throat.  In any case, my hunger did go away.

I think the chanting kind of redirects the flow of your thoughts and urges, almost like flipping the switch on an electrical circuit to make the electrons flow along a different path.  I realize that may not quite describe what is actually happening in your mind or brain, but it helps me to have a visual concept of what is going on.  So this chanting is a helpful aid to intermittent fasting (IF) because it suppresses your appetite so much.  Better than taking pills for sure!

You really did cut back a lot on your calories.  I'd be interested to know how long you can keep it up without getting a rebound in your appetite.

Hi HungryGuy,

How are you doing?
Thanks for the feedback, its interesting to know that 'In any case, my hunger did go away'.

I dont have a visual concept for the mantra, as I chant it while doing my chores in the morning, so I am generally occupied with something else while chanting. I do intermittently take my attention to my throat while chanting.

By the way, I dont really watch my calories anymore...my estimate is that I am consuming around 1000 calories per day. Interestingly, I have lost more weight, and am now at 57 kgs (BMI 20.9), and am feeling really good about it. And all this happened without struggling for it.
I have not been steadily at this BMI for more than a few years now, so its really great to see that I am maintaining this, without a struggle. My objective is to lose some more weight.
