A brave Ophthalmologist fights for plus-prevention
« on: March 14, 2014, 04:19:51 PM »
Subject: ODs and MDs will insist that even the slightest prevention, at 20/40 and -1 diopter is impossible.

They insist that "science does not support plus-prevention at 20/40."  They insist that all other ophthalmologists BELIEVE WHAT THEY BELIEVE.  I personally protest that attitude - because there is no science to justify the statement.

Here is the review of an ophthalmologist who believes that prevention is possible.

Perhaps the real test of an ophthalmologist - is that she insists that her own children wear the plus, for prevention.  Even after the child gets to 20/20.

No one would argue (on this forum) that myopia can be prevented in the first place.

it surprises me that dr kaisu goes with the common belief that "actual myopia", is irreversible.

"Pseudomyopia, being a 'spasm of accommodation' can be released. Left unattended however, the spasmic, overworked accommodation muscle will cause the eyeball to elongate causing irreversible, actual myopia. This happens especially in a young eye."
